How to use it
Enter your current average, how many assignments you've completed, your target average, and the grade you expect on future assignments. The calculator tells you how many more you need.
Formula
Assignments needed = ⌈ Current count × (Target − Current) ÷ (Planned grade − Target) ⌉Examples
Example: Current 72% over 10 assignments, target 85%, planning to score 95%. Needed = ⌈10 × 13 ÷ 10⌉ = 13 more assignments.
Example: Current 80% over 5 assignments, target 90%, planning 98%. Needed = ⌈5 × 10 ÷ 8⌉ = 7 more.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my planned grade need to be above the target?
If you score at or below the target, your average can never rise to it, no matter how many you add.
Does this assume equal weighting?
Yes — it assumes all assignments count equally. For weighted work, use the weighted grade calculator.
What if the number seems huge?
It's mathematically accurate but shows when a target is unrealistic — consider a lower target or raising your planned scores.
