How to use it
Enter your current GPA and how many credits you've completed. Then set the GPA you want and how many credits you have left. The calculator tells you the GPA you need in those remaining credits to hit your target.
Formula
Needed GPA = (target × total credits − current GPA × credits earned) ÷ remaining creditsExamples
Example: Current GPA 3.2 over 60 credits, target 3.5, 30 credits left. Needed = (3.5×90 − 3.2×60) ÷ 30 = (315 − 192) ÷ 30 = 4.10 — unreachable since it exceeds 4.0.
Example: Current 3.0 over 45 credits, target 3.3, 45 credits left. Needed = (3.3×90 − 3.0×45) ÷ 45 = (297 − 135) ÷ 45 = 3.6.
Frequently asked questions
What is a target GPA?
It's the GPA you're aiming to reach by the end of a term or program, used to plan the grades you still need.
Can I reach a 4.0 from a lower GPA?
It depends on how many credits you have left. The more credits you've already earned, the harder it is to move the overall average.
What if the needed GPA is above 4.0?
Then your target is mathematically unreachable without extra credit or grade replacement.
