How to use it
Add each graded item from your semester — assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams — with its score (%) and weight (percentage or points). The calculator returns your weighted semester grade.
Formula
Semester grade = Σ(weight × grade) ÷ Σ(weight)Examples
Midterm: Midterm 82% (weight 30), final 88% (weight 40), homework 95% (weight 30). Semester grade = (30×82 + 40×88 + 30×95) ÷ 100 = 88.3%.
Quizzes + exam: Quizzes 90% (weight 20), project 85% (weight 20), exam 78% (weight 60). Semester grade = (20×90 + 20×85 + 60×78) ÷ 100 = 81.8%.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my semester grade?
Multiply each graded item by its weight, add them all together, then divide by the total weight. This gives your weighted average for the semester.
What's the difference between a semester grade and a semester GPA?
A semester grade is your overall percentage for the term; a semester GPA converts that performance to a 4.0-scale point average.
Which items count toward my semester grade?
Everything your syllabus includes in the final grade — assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams — each with its stated weight.
What if I don't know the weights?
Check your syllabus. If weights aren't given, enter equal weights, or use the unweighted average of all your scores.
